Dallas Police Officer Dies of Medical Emergency After Shift; One Month From Retirement

On July 6, 2023, at around 4:00 pm, Dallas Police responded to an assist officer with an ambulance call. Dallas Police received a 911 call that an off-duty Dallas Police Officer had collapsed near a parking lot after returning home from a shift.

The preliminary investigation determined an apartment employee and officers performed CPR while waiting for Dallas Fire Rescue to respond.

DFR transported the man to a local hospital where he died.

The officer was assigned to Southwest Patrol and has been with DPD for 31 years.
