North Texas Car Dealers Still Recovering

(WBAP/KLIF) — The auto industry is still recovering from the last two years of COVID work stoppages, chip shortages, and supply chain issues.

In 2020, car dealers across the nation faced the stark reality of empty lots due to a computer chip shortage. Although the chip shortage continues, it isn’t as debilitating as it was two and a half years ago. North Texas Automobile Dealers (NTXAD) President Brent Franks says his 215 dealerships across the Metroplex have made progress.

Franks says the inventory level still hasn’t reached pre-pandemic levels, but selection has improved significantly and new car prices are beginning to come down as demand remains high. He also believes the used car market should get increasingly better over the next year. Car parts are another area of concern as work stoppages and the Ukraine conflict have drained inventory. some car parts even take months to manufacture and ship.
