Newborn Baby Abandoned at Plano Business

Plano (WBAP/KLIF) – A newborn baby was abandoned at a business in Plano Wednesday afternoon. Plano police said they got a call around 2pm about the infant found wrapped in a towel at a business located in the 600 block of Central Expressway. The child was transported to a hospital by Plano Fire Rescue and is reported in good condition at a hospital.

Meantime, the department is reminding residents about Texas’ Safe Haven Law which is a safe and legal option for parents unable to care for their newborn baby.

Parents who leave their unharmed newborn at any hospital, fire station or emergency medical services station in Texas will not be prosecuted for abandonment or neglect. the baby must be handed to an employee at one of those locations.
