(WBAP/KLIF) — The drug dealer involved in the fentanyl overdose of a Carrollton middle school student pleaded guilty in federal court, Thursday.

23-year-old Rafael Soliz, Jr., pleaded guilty to federal fentanyl distribution charges. Last November, Soliz contacted a 13-year-old girl via Instagram and delivered fentanyl-laced counterfeit M30 pills to her home. The Dewitt Perry Middle School student was later found dead in her Carrollton bedroom. Soliz admitted to selling fentanyl to both street-level dealers and directly to users, including children.
U.S. Attorney Leigha Simonton says the 23-year-old faces up to 40 years in Federal prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl. Soliz told the court that he distributed approximately 1,500 fentanyl pills to adults and kids, including the 13 year-old victim. The man is the fifth defendant charged in the wake of the Carrollton/Flower Mound juvenile overdose investigation.
