(WBAP/KLIF) — Driving in the heat could pose risks during the Independence Day holiday.

For many Texans, summer road trips are filled with fond memories of family and friends. However, every now and then, car trouble has ruined a trip. Highways across the Lone Star State are expected to see 3.2 million people hitting the roads for the 4th of July Holiday Weekend.
According to Daniel Armbruster with AAA-Texas, extreme heat increases the risk of car problems, which in most cases can be prevented with a quick inspection from a mechanic. The top roadside emergencies involve dead batteries, flat tires, and overheated engines. Armbruster says make sure you’re prepared by having a mechanic check your vehicle’s tires, belts, and hoses before leaving home.
Travelers should also pack plenty of water and a roadside emergency kit.
