Garland ISD Bus Driver Saves Student From Possible Predator

GARLAND (WBAP/KLIF News ) – A Garland ISD bus driver is being hailed as a hero for saving a middle school student from a potential predator caught lingering around Berkner High School in Richardson.

The district says on May 18th, the driver, known as Reva, noticed a man trying to lure one of her students into his car at a bus stop.

The young girl got away and ran into the bus for safety. Officials said Reva sensed the urgency, and promptly closed the doors and asked the girl what happened.

Before the man drove off, Reva blocked him in a nearby cul-de-sac with her bus which prevented him from escaping.

Reva got his license plate number and reported the matter to police.

Garland police arrested the suspect, identified as Jonathan Hoang Trinh. Investigators said he’s wanted in connection to a sexual assault case in Richardson.

In a statement, Garland ISD said in part:

“Administration commends the bus driver’s bravery and quick thinking, recognizing that their actions potentially saved the student from harm,” read the statement.
