(WBAP/KLIF) — University of Texas-Arlington has received its largest gift ever in the school’s history. Alumnus and Texas energy billionaire Kelcy Warren is giving back to his alma mater to the tune of $12-million.
The Energy Transfer Partners CEO donated the funds to the Resource and Energy Engineering (REE) program at UT-Arlington. UTA President Jennifer Cowley shared her vision of the REE program, as the gift will propel the the bachelor’s degree program to the nation’s top tier.
The money will be used to recruit and retain distinguished scholars to enhance the REE educational experience, as well as support state-of-the-art laboratory space and equipment. To recognize Warren’s generosity, UTA will name three endowed academic positions, as well as the laboratory, career experience center and scholarships in his honor.
