DECATUR (WBAP/KLIF News ) – A boil water notice remains in effect for Decatur residents until at least Saturday at five pm.
City officials said a 12-inch water line off business Highway 380 was hit by a contractor installing underground utility on Thursday.
In a Facebook post, the city said crews stopped the leak but water towers were taken offline due to pressure and volume loss.
Workers are flushing the system and testing the water.
The situation caused disruption among residents. Classes were canceled for Decatur ISD students on Friday.
Officials passed out two free cases of drinking water per household Thursday night to get residents through the disruption.
The city said it will update residents on Friday. Decatur is located in Wise County about 40 miles northwest of Fort Worth.
