Threat Targeting Garland ISD Triggers Extra Security and Metal Detectors

Garland, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – Extra security will be in place at Garland High School today amid an unspecified threat last night.

In a letter shared on social media directed at Garland High School parents, GISD Superintendent Holly Hines said the threat was immediately shared with district security and Garland police. In addition to extra security and police at the school today, portable metal detectors will be set up.

The letter goes on to mention the end-of-course STAAR, Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams taking place this week, saying that a limited number of make-up tests may be available.
