Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – Members of the Texas House have voted overwhelmingly (122 – 19) for the first piece of school safety legislation to be passed by the House since last year’s massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. Among other things, House Bill 3 calls for at least one armed security officer on every school campus, panic alert buttons in every classroom, and financial incentives to encourage school employees to take certification classes to legally carry weapons in schools. The house will vote on the measure once more before sending it to the State Senate for its consideration.
