(WBAP/KLIF) — Texas has set a series of new state employment records. According to recently-released statistics from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), the Lone Star State added 28,600 new jobs in March. That puts the state ahead of the entire nation in job growth with over 14.9 million Texans employed.
TWC Director Mariana Vega says the list of fastest growing cities in job creation over the last year includes DFW. Midland ranked first, Odessa second, followed by Austin, Round Rock, Dallas-Fort Worth, Arlington, and Sherman-Denison. Vega says growth is consistent across the state, as not a single metro area experienced a drop in its labor force.
Unemployment in the state of Texas has held steady for another month. According to March statistics, the unemployment rate remained at 4%, as a record 13.8 million total non-farm jobs remain filled across the state. Texas also achieved the largest civilian labor force and greatest number of people employed in state history. The seasonally adjusted work force increased by almost 79,000. Since March 2022, Texas has added more than 575-thousand work positions to the economy.
