Tarrant County Elections Administrator Steps Down

TARRANT COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF) – Tarrant County Elections Administrator Heider Garcia has stepped down.

Garcia sent a letter Sunday to County Judge Tim O’Hare and County Administrator G. K. Maenius explaining his departure.
In the letter he says he and O’Hare have different ideas for running transparent elections.

Garcia has been the election’s administrator since 2018, his last day will be June 23rd.

In the letter, obtained by The Star Telegram, he thanked Maenius for his leadership, support and guidance and for letting elections officials do their job and stay out of politics.

In a written statement O’Hare said “As County Judge and Chair of the Tarrant County Election Commission, I want nothing more than quality, transparent elections in Tarrant County. Supporting the creation of an Election Integrity Task Force was all about quality, transparent elections. Mr. Garcia voluntarily resigned his position, and I wish him well in his future endeavors.”

The Tarrant County Democratic Party says it is alarmed about the circumstances that led to Garcia’s resignation.
