(WBAP/KLIF) — White Settlement Police are taking a step back into the Old West of the 1800’s with a new uniform addition.
When Police Chief Chris Cook was hired on to head the department, officers asked what he thought about approving them to wear cowboy hats on the job. Now, cook has approved that request. Each officer is authorized to wear straw western-style hats during the warmer season and black felt hats during cooler weather. Brad Humphries at Lazy J’s Ranch Wear is supplying the western-style hats, while American Hat Company will produce them.
White Settlement has a rich western heritage and culture with early pioneers making the trek to the untamed west in the early 1830s.
