(WBAP/KLIF) — Help is on the way for low-income parents wanting a college education.
Dallas College is partnering with Jeff Bezos to provide early childhood education for struggling families. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of Bezos Academy took place, Friday, at the Cedar Valley campus.
Bezos Academy’s Ishii Tavarez says the Montessori-inspired preschool is designed to provide early childhood education to under-resourced communities. Families with children earning up to 400% of the federal poverty level are eligible for the program and can apply until June 6th at bezosacademy.org
Bezos Academy-Cedar Valley is now open, with a second academy planned for the Mountain View campus. The school focuses on serving children who are three and four years old from families earning up to four times the federal poverty level.
