Collin College, Texas Wesleyan Among Several Institutions Hit by Active Shooter Hoax Calls

NORTH TEXAS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Collin College’s Plano campus was among several Texas schools hit by what police said were hoax active shooter calls Thursday morning.

Dozens of Plano police officers responded to a 911 call that came in around 9:45 a.m. that claimed a mass shooting was underway.

After a sweep of the campus, police eventually gave the all clear.

Collin College later sent messages to students and staff via text and Twitter that said “classes and normal operations will resume at 1 p.m.”

Plano police said an investigation is ongoing to locate the caller to determine what possible criminal charges can be applied.

Other colleges including Texas Wesleyan University, TCU, Baylor, Texas A&M’s medical campus in Bryan, Del Mar College Heritage Campus in Corpus Christi and UT Health Science Center in San Antonio also received hoax active shooter calls Thursday morning.
