National Retailer to Close Doors in DFW

(WBAP/KLIF) — One major DFW retailer is closing its doors for good.

The Grapevine tornado in December of last year destroyed the roof of the local Sam’s Club, throwing air conditioning units across the parking lot, overturning a semi, and wrapping cart returns around trees. That same storm damaged Grapevine Mills Mall and a city middle school.

The Sam’s Club store has been closed since that EF1 tornado hit, with many residents expecting repairs and a re-opening in the future. However, in a statement released, Wednesday, Walmart stated “After careful consideration and a thorough damage assessment, we have made the difficult business decision to close our grapevine store. this decision aligns with the long-term growth strategy for our company.”
a company spokesperson says employees had previously been moved to nearby stores.
