DFW (WBAP/KLIF) – A federal jury has reached a verdict in the civil trial against former Balch Springs police officer Roy Oliver for fatally shooting 15 year old Jordan Edwards in 2017.
Oliver must pay Jordan Edwards’ family a total of 21.6 million dollars. The jury agreed Oliver used excessive force when he shot and killed the 15 year old.
Edwards was among a group of teens in a car that was leaving as officers were breaking up a house party. Body cam footage showed Oliver firing shots into the car as it drove away. A jury convicted Oliver of murder in 2018. He’s serving a 15 year sentence.
