The students are being taken to 1001 East Division for the reunification.
Arlington Police Officer Jessie Minton said one male student is hospitalized in critical condition and another female student sustained non life threatening injuries.
The suspected shooter is in custody and investigators believe that he may have had a targeted motive and that it was not a mass shooting attempt. Police said all parties involved are under 17 years old.
The department said around 6:55 a.m., dispatch received multiple reports of shots fired on campus, outside of the school building.
Investigators said they do not believe the suspected shooter ever entered the school.
Officers were able to locate and arrest him shortly after arriving on the scene.
According to police, the school day does not typically begin until 7:35 a.m., so classes were not underway and not all students had arrived on campus when the shooting occurred.
It’s a situation that left parents terrified. Mike Prices daughter was inside the school when the shooting happened.
“Obviously, the first thing that comes to my mind is Uvalde, Texas,” he said, referring to the mass shooting at Robb Elementary last May that claimed the lives of 19 students and two teachers.
