Suspect in Shootout with Garland Police Dies

GARLAND (WBAP/KLIF) – The suspect in an officer involved shooting in Garland died after being taken to a local hospital, according to Garland Police.

The department said Tuesday that Officers were trying to pull over 32-year-old Adrian Castillo in a routine traffic stop near Jupiter Road and Forest Lane Monday evening. Castillo led Police on a short chase into a nearby neighborhood before jumping out of his vehicle and shooting at the Officers. Police fired back and hit Castillo who was taken to a local hospital.

Garland Police Lieutenant Richard Maldonado said Castillo later died from his injuries.

Per department policy, the Officers are on administrative leave. Castillo had an outstanding warrant on an Indecency with a Child Charge.
