Mesquite (WBAP/KLIF) – Acting on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in October, Police in Terrell on Tuesday arrested a Mesquite ISD teacher and coach on possession of child pornography charges.
The tip led police to execute a search on the apartment of 25-year old John Waters where they seized all electronic storage devices. A subsequent forensic search of those devices found child porn.
Waters is a history teacher and assistant football coach at Horn High School. In a letter to parents, the district said that it is unaware of any prior inappropriate behavior involving waterr; and, that police do not believe the allegations involve students from the district.
Upon learning of his arrest, Waters was immediately placed on leave. He is being held in the Kaufman County jail on $100,000 bond.
