Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – A new initiative in Fort Worth aims to prevent youth gun violence.
Announcement of the ‘One Second Collaborative,’ comes a week after a Paschel High School student became the 8th teen homicide victim in Fort Worth this year during a shooting incident last week at Whataburger near the school.
Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Anjelca Ramsey was on hand a city council work session this week, saying that there are “problems across the city.“
Fort Worth Police Neil Noakes told city leaders, We can’t arrest our way out of tbese problems.” He added that a collaborative effort is needed.
The new initiative is slated to launch this summer and brings together the police department, the City of Fort Worth, Tarrant County and the United Way of Tarrant County. It will target youth in underserved areas for intervention, counseling services and mentoring.
