(WBAP/KLIF) — Flight attendants are voicing frustration with American Airlines by braving the cold weather, Tuesday, to picket the Fort-Worth based airline at DFW airport.
The employees are accusing the American of failing to address contract concerns of longer work days, minimal rest, and insufficient pay. President Julie Hedrick says the Association of Professional Flight Attendants is lobbying for better working conditions.
Hedrick also says pay was frozen during the COVID pandemic, as well as staffing reductions. Now that air travel has returned to normal, staff shortages continue, which present longer work days, minimal rest, and more rescheduled operations lead to exhaustion, and markedly impact quality of life.
Negotiations continue this week between American Airlines and its flight attendants in an attempt to hammer out a new deal. The picket lines were stationed at 11 major U.S. airports, including Boston, New York, Washington D.C., Los Angeles and DFW.
