Cook’s is experiencing a critical volume of patients that’s pushing the facility to its limits. The flu season has taken DFW by storm, flooding Cook Children’s Urgent Care Centers and primary care offices with cases. Emergency Department physician Daniel Guzman says Cook’s is seeing influenza, RSV, and COVID cases across their entire health network. According to Guzman, the hospital has increased their bed capacity and hired additional health care workers to service patients.
In the last 24 hours, Cook Children’s has seen 623 patients suffering from a range of respiratory illnesses. The last time the health network experienced a similar level of patients was during H1N1.
