FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News ) – It’s official. Fort Worth ISD’s school board voted unanimously Tuesday to name Doctor Angelica Ramsey as its new superintendent.
During the meeting, parents addressed the board.
“You seem to be choosing someone who you want not who represent the people,” said one parent. “Doctor Ramsey has a reputation as a change agent…someone who will keep improvement and achievement center stage,” said another.
Ramsey, who is now the district’s 21st superintendent, addressed the board and parents in attendance.
“I believe in distributive leadership. I believe that I serve and I sincerely mean it when I say that I work for children with all the people here,” she said.
Ramsey signed a three-year contract with an annual base salary of $335,000. Her contract ends August 31, 2025.
Ramsey was named the long finalist for the position during a special board meeting August 30, then completed state mandated 21-day waiting period.
She formerly served as superintendent of Midland ISD.
Prior to that, she spent nearly five years as superintendent at the Pleasant Valley School District in California.
Tuesday, September 21, is Ramsey’s first official day on the job.
