
(WBAP/KLIF News ) – North Texans are clearing up damage from the strong to severe storms that swept across the Metroplex Sunday afternoon.
The storms brought heavy rain, high winds, isolated hail, damage and power outages.
Parts of Uptown and Old East Dallas were inundated with rain in the same areas hit by record flooding last month.
At the height of storm, Oncor reported that 132,000 thousand customers were without power across North Texas. Dallas County saw the most outages with 122,000 at the storm’s peak.
As of 5:26 a.m. Monday morning, a little over 50,000 North Texans were in the dark.
Numerous neighborhoods reported damages including downed trees and fences.
A structure under construction at Munger and Annex Avenues in Old East Dallas collapsed Sunday.
Three portions of the second story of the wood-framed structure were demolished by the high winds around 3 p.m.
The Dallas Zoo announced on Twitter that it will be closed on Monday, Labor Day, to clean up downed trees from the storms.
