(WBAP/KLIF) — Random school safety inspections begin rolling out across Texas next month. The Texas School Safety Center (TSSC) will conduct safety audits at all public schools in the lone star state beginning September 12th.

TSSC Director Cathy Martinez-Prather says a main focus of the inspections will involve access doors. The audits are part of a directive handed down by Governor Greg Abbott in the wake of the Uvalde school massacre. District officials and law enforcement will be notified of the audits, however local schools will not, promoting a sense of accountability for school employees.
According to WFAA, the TSSC plans to check all Texas school districts and 75% of schools by the end of the school year.
