FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – Members of Allied Pilots Association picketed outside American Airlines’ headquarters in Fort Worth on Thursday morning.
The Air Line Pilots Association hosted similar events in 13 other cities across the nation.
“Management’s history of serving up crisis after crisis has impacted us to the point that fatigue calls have skyrocketed,” said APA President Capt. Ed Sicher. “Margins of safety are clearly being compromised.”
APA has proposed scheduling reforms that leaders believe would support the safety margin and respect pilots’ and passengers’ needs.
The APA said Thursday that company shareholders, passengers, and pilots are all in need of suggested reforms that it believes would also help address American’s staffing shortfall by making the airline more attractive to prospective new-hire pilots.
