FRISCO (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Frisco High School had increased police presence on Monday in response to a social media threat made over the weekend.
In a letter to parents, Principal Shawn Perry said there was no active threat to the school and noted that a student spotted the threat, reportedly on Instagram, and reported it.
Perry described the threat as “an apparent threat of violence.”
Frisco Police said the believe they have identified the origin of the post and added that there is no danger to students or staff.
More officers were sent to patrol the campus out of an abundance of caution.
Perry urged parents to talk with their kids about the fact that even if some jokes about having a weapon or threatening violence, it’s still a crime that could be prosecuted as a Class A misdemeanor up to a third-degree felony.
Frisco officials are asking students and their parents to report any information about the specific threat or any other threats to police at 972-292-6010. Tipsters can remain anonymous by texting the word “FriscoPD” to 847411.
