Airbnb Launches Anti-Party Technology Amid Ongoing Crack Down

NORTH TEXAS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Airbnb is rolling out new technology in the United States and Canada aimed at lowering the risk for high-risk reservations and unauthorized parties for its hosts.

Ben Breit is with the property rental company and said the software looks for specific factors to weed out certain renters.

“Someone who is brand new to the platform who doesn’t have a history of positive reviews or makes a sudden one-night booking on a Friday night for large home,” he said.

The new system comes on the heels of Airbnb codifying a temporary ban on parties in June. The company said it has seen a 46% year-over-year drop in party reports in Texas since 2020.

“Most of our Texas hosts, specifically in Dallas, they don’t want unwanted parties, they don’t want property damage, they respect their neighbors, they want people booking for the right reasons,” said Breit.

Airbnb expects positive results and cites its data from Australia. The company said its pilot in Australia resulted in a 35% drop in incidents of unauthorized parties.
