Wise County, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – 67-Year old Audie Lee Butler, a former Wise County resident was sentenced to life in prison, a day after being found guilty this week [Wednesday] of continuous sexual assault of a child.
In a Facebook post the Wise County Messenger reports that among three witnesses to testify was the alleged victim who goes by ‘Jane Doe’ to protect her identity.
She said that the abuse took place multiple times over the course of several years when she was younger than 14; and, that it took her many years to come forward because she tried to convince herself that it didn’t happen. The jury also saw an interview in which Butler confessed to Wise County authorities.
According to Wise County Jail records, Butler had been jailed since June 18, 2020.on $100,000 bond. He faced 25-year to life in prison.
