Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Two confessed Mexican cartel drug traffickers admitted in Dallas federal court Tuesday they tried to arrange the murder of the DEA task force officer assigned to their case. That officer was not identified in court. Manuel Garcia Gomez and Jorge Humberto Velazco Larios are believed to be affiliated with Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generation, which the U.S. Attorney’s office calls “one of Mexico’s most violent and powerful drug cartels.” Gomez and Larios have each pleaded guilty to distributing methamphetamine. They will face up to life in prison when they are sentenced. Gomez is to be sentenced in August. No sentencing date has yet been set for Larios.
