DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – In an effort to diminish overcrowding and to help find pets a forever home, the SPCA of Texas is hosting an ‘Empty the Shelters’ Adoptapalooza event in North Texas this weekend.

Potential pet parents can meet adoptable dogs and cats at SPCA shelters at the Jan Reese-Jones Animal Care Center at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas and the Ellis County Animal Care Center at 257 FM 878 in Waxahachie.
Adopters will also have the opportunity to draw for their adoption fees, which range from no cost to $25.
The SPCA of Texas’ Maura Davies said their shelters, like so many nationwide, are experiencing overcrowding. The goal this weekend is to “Empty the Shelters.”
“We have so many wonderful pets to choose from. We have more than 150 pets, that’s so many. There’s a dog out there for every family. There’s a family out there for every dog,” she said.
The event starts Friday and ends Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
