Officers Indicted in Summer 2020 Dallas Protests

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – A Dallas County Grand Jury has returned indictments on multiple police officers charged in connection to the Summer 2020 Protests in Downtown Dallas over the death of George Floyd, according to the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office.

According to the D.A. the cases were presented to the Grand Jury on May 4. It found there was probable cause to indict two Dallas Officers and a Garland Officer the officers in connection to demonstrations on the afternoon and evening of May 30, 2020.
DPD Senior Corporal Ryan Mabry was indicted on six counts of Aggravated Assault by a Public Servant, and two Deadly Conduct charges.
Former DPD Senior Corporal Melvin Williams faces four indictments of Aggravated Assault by a Public Servant, and two indictments of Deadly Conduct.

“These indictments as returned by the Grand Jury are the result of almost 2 years of investigation by the Dallas Police Department and the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office,” s statement from D.A. John Creuzot read. “In cases where bonds have not been posted, warrants for arrest will be issued.”

Garland Police Officer Joe Privitt was indicted on one count of Aggravated Assault by a Public Servant.
