Mexican Railroad Will Avoid Texas

Mexico City (WBAP/KLIF) – Mexico’s government is retaliating for Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s sudden imposition of tougher inspections of commercial truck traffic along the border last month. Mexico’s Economy Minister says his country will not allow itself to be hostage to “someone who wants to use trade as a political tool.” So Mexico says it has decided to shift entirely out of Texas a new railroad it plans to build connecting the Pacific port of Mazatlan across the United States to the Canadian city of Winnipeg. Instead of crossing the border at El Paso, Mexico says it will bring the tracks through Santa Teresa, New Mexico, and keep them west of the Texas state line.
