FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – Flags across parts of Texas are flying at half-staff to honor the Texas National Guard soldier whose body was recovered this week near Eagle Pass.

Specialist Bishop Evans, of Arlington, was a graduate of Mansfield High School. He was reportedly trying two save two migrants who were struggling to cross the Rio Grande River when he went missing last Friday.

Governor Abbott ordered flags at half-staff shortly after Evans’ body was recovered.

Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley said on Tuesday that Tarrant County will also honor SPC Evans.
