Tarrant County DA’s Office Raises Awareness for Crime Victims

TARRANT COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s office is raising awareness for crime victims.

The office, along with representatives from the Community Supervision and Corrections Department and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, placed wreaths at subcourthouses throughout Tarrant County Monday morning.

The wreaths are a tribute to crime victims and a promise that all of them will have the rights and services they need to recover from crime.

Allison Bowen is the director of the Office’s Victims Services Team and said it’s important for the community to know how to get help and what avenues are available.

“For human trafficking, shelter resources, clothing resources, food donation resources, homelessness services, transportation and help to safety locations, mental health resources there’s substance abuses resources,” she said.

Bowen adds that supporting victims still grappling with the ripple effects of crime is a community effort.

“When a crime happens to someone, there’s a various amount of things that happens that destroys their lives. So it’s very important that there are so many resources that can connect them and help them restart their life,” she said.

Tarrant County District Attorney Sharen Wilson said she and her team will always be there for the victims.

“We are the voice for the crime victims,” she said. “We tell their stories in court and seek justice for them.”

Monday’s wreath ceremonies are in tandem with National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
