National Weather Service Crews Survey Storm Damage Across NTX

DALLAS/FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- Severe weather season has arrived in North Texas. The National Weather Service (NWS) says a radar-confirmed storm touched down in north Johnson county near Joshua and Alvarado. City officials reported downed wires throughout the county.
The Keller Police Department confirmed that a three-alarm fire at a house in Westlake was caused by a lightning strike. All were evacuated from the house, but at least two firefighters were reportedly injured. NWS teams also reported at least one home lost a roof and at least one structure has partially collapsed in Blue Ridge.

Also in Collin County, four people were brought to safety after their cars were swept away from flash flooding in McKinney. No injuries have been reported but officials are urging drivers to turn around instead of continuing through the water.

NWS survey crews will examine the damage in Johnson County near Joshua as well as Collin county near Celina and Blue Ridge and Kaufman County near Kemp into Van Zandt County.

ONCOR Electric reported 23,000 customers without power early Tuesday morning. Officials say it wasn’t concentrated in any specific areas just spread across the metroplex.
Grant Cruise with ONCOR said the outages never exceeded 30,000. He said considering how strong the winds were, that’s pretty expected.
