JACKSBORO (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Residents in Jacksboro are at the beginning of a long road to recovery after severe storms and an EF-3 tornado hit the Jack County community earlier this week.
The twister destroyed the Jacksboro High and Elementary school gyms and caused damage to numerous homes and businesses.
“There’s a lot of need here in the community. There’s a lot of homes that are just completely destroyed,” said Jack County Treasurer Brad Campsey.
To help in the rebuilding process, Jack County officials have set up a disaster relief fund to be distributed to residents who need help.
Donations can be made to the Jacksboro National Bank at 910 North Main Street. They can also be sent to P.O. Box A in Jacksboro with the zip code 76548.
Campsey said impacted residents area facing an uphill battle.
“It’s going to be quite a while you know, to rebuild homes, and the cleanup is just going to be tremendous,” he said.
Jack County officials said they’re thankful for the overwhelming amount of support they’ve received since disaster hit.
Hundreds of volunteers are collecting food, water, clothes and other household items for residents.

The National Weather Service of Fort Worth said at least 10 tornadoes, ranging from an EF-3 to EF-0, tore through North Texas Monday afternoon.
Jacksboro was the hardest hit.
