Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick Proposes Plan Surrounding Tenure to Discourage CRT

AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF) – Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick announced on Friday that he has a plan to address critical race theory in the next legislative session.

The announcement comes after the university of Texas at Austin’s faculty council said it supports educators who teach CRT.

Lt. Gov. Patrick proposes making changes surrounding tenure.

“Right now tenure is reviewed about every six years,” said Patrick. “Pretty much whatever you do during those six years there’s not much anybody can do about it.”

Critical race theory explores the idea that racism throughout history has shaped American society.

Patrick is proposing ending tenure for new hires at Texas public universities and revoking it for educators who teach CRT.
