Tragedy Outside a Quaint Coffee Shop in Coppell; Man Shoots Woman, then Self

(City of Coppell)

Coppell, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – Just outside a popular coffee shop in Old Town Coppell Wednesday, a violent tragedy left two people dead

Police say a 20-year old Nicholas Twining shot 21-year old Caitlin Rogers in front of George Coffee Shop, then turned the gun on himself just a few feet away.

Residents in the upscale community are stunned; Cliff Long who lives next door to the shot told our media partner WFAA-TV that he was in his office when the shots rang out.

“It just doesn’t happen in Coppell. I jumped because I knew that that was a gunshot, then 10 seconds later a second shot.”

A bullet lodged on the outside wall of his office.

Police say the victim and shooter were former college roommates but not romantically involved.

An investigation continues.

Meantime, in a Facebook post, George said that it will be closed today (Thursday) to give its staff a chance to come to grips with what happened outside its doors.
