Mayor of Dallas Focused on Resolving Issues Surrounding Permits

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Mayor of Dallas told reporters on Monday that “enough is enough” when it comes to lingering issues surrounding permits in the city.

Mayor Eric Johnson said that the timeliness of issuing permits for buildings and homes in Dallas has lagged for too long, and is impacting the city’s competitiveness with the suburbs.

“This has everything to do with the competitiveness of our city,” said Mayor Johnson. “That’s it, bottom line.”

The Mayor said it’s the job of the City Manager, who is tasked with overseeing improvements, to ensure the issues are resolved. But, Johnson isn’t satisfied.

“[Elected officials] get held accountable every two to four years, but it is our job hold the people who work for all of us at the city accountable for doing their jobs,” said Mayor Johnson. “We all have a job and we all need to do it.”

Mayor Johnson announced the creation of a working group that will solely focus on fixing the problems with permits. Councilwoman Paula Blackmon with lead the group.
