North Texas Celebrates its Presence in Sunday’s Big Game

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas Cowboys are not playing in this year’s Super Bowl in Los Angeles, but North Texas is still represented.

DFW natives playing in the big game include L.A. Rams Quarterback, and Highland Park High School alum, Matthew Stafford, and DeSoto’s Von Miller. Miller also plays for the Rams. Former Azle football star James Casey will be on the sidelines as a Tight Ends Coach for the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Highlander Stadium fan shop in Highland Park sold ‘Scots for Stafford’ t-shirts this week, which flew off the shelves like hot cakes.

“He has a mind for football,” said HP Head Coach Randy Allen, who coached Stafford to a state championship in 2005. “Now he’s on a team surrounded by stars and has a chance to succeed. We’re really excited for him.”

Allen was in attendance when the Rams advanced to the Super Bowl, and will be at Sunday’s game in L.A.

A community pep rally is planned in the Park Cities for later this week.
