DALLAS – (WBAP/KLIF) – Some Covid testing sites nationwide are now being called the smash and grab of the Covid pandemic. As the Omicron variant takes firm hold across the United states and record cases for the pandemic are now a fact across North Texas, officials warn us to be careful about fake Covid testing sites.
While you may not be asked to pay for a Covid test, does the testing site ask you to place private information such as your social security number on paperwork? Do you have other concerns? Are you asked to proceed when a bit of confusion is what you are beginning to feel more than security at this site?
Ask that testing site for its CLIA number. The Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment number, or CLIA, indicates that lab is federally regulated. Are testers inefficient? Unprofessional? Do they tell you test results will take 72 hours or more? Those are all red flags, say officials. They want you to test for Covid at city or county health departments, clinic popups, or area hospitals.
