(WBAP/KLIF) — Texas abortions clinics are plowing ahead with a more narrow challenge to the state’s restrictive abortion law. The Texas law bans abortions once cardiac activity is detected, which is usually around six weeks.
However, an appeals court in New Orleans didn’t immediately decide, Friday, where to send the case next in a procedural battle that clinics argue will only ensure the restrictions stay in effect longer.
Since the law took effect in September, abortion clinics say they have only been able to abort a third of the pregnancies they normally do compared to before the Heartbeat Bill took effect.
