(WBAP/KLIF) — Two Dallas area high school football coaches are playing for state championships, Saturday. Duncanville head coach Reginald Samples is a legend in North Texas high school football, where he coached Jason Todd, who is the head coach at South Oak Cliff.
Todd played for Samples at Lincoln high and later joined his coaching staff after college. In 2015, Todd took the head job at South Oak Cliff, the same school Samples played at nearly 50 years ago. Samples, now, coaches the Duncanville Panthers.
According to Todd, the two are close friends who are on the verge of winning titles together. Both schools will play for state titles, Saturday. This would be the first state title for a Dallas ISD school since 1958. Todd coaches S-O-C against Liberty Hill at 11:00 am, while Samples leads Duncanville against Galena Park North Shore at 3:00 pm.
