License Suspended for Dallas Paramedic Caught on Camera Kicking Homeless Man in Head

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – A former Dallas paramedic caught on camera kicking a homeless man in the head has lost his license.

Online records show the state suspended Brad Cox’s EMT license earlier this month.

In a statement last month, Dallas Fire-Rescue said Cox had been fired from the department.

The fallout stems from an incident from 2019, in which surveillance video and body camera showed Cox kicking 32-year-old Kyle Vess after responding to a call for help.

Vess’ family has filed a lawsuit against Cox and the City of Dallas, arguing the beating made his mental health condition worse.

Dallas Police are investigating as to whether any criminal charges will be filed.

Cox, a former MMA fighter, claimed he acted in self-defense.
