Dallas Mayor Postpones ‘State of the City’ as he Recovers from COVID

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Mayor of Dallas’ annual State of the City Address has been rescheduled to allow the Mayor more time to recover from his breakthrough case of COVID-19.

The speech was initially scheduled for noon on Thursday in the City Council chambers at Dallas City Hall. But it’s been postponed until 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 17.

The mayor plans to return to work Friday.

“I greatly appreciate the outpouring of support from the people of Dallas over the past week,” Mayor Johnson said. “My symptoms are improving every day, and I look forward to getting back to work so we can discuss our city’s needs in the year ahead.”

Mayor Johnson said he plans to use the speech to discuss the city’s progress — including initiatives prioritized in the recently passed Fiscal Year 2021–2022 city budget — and to detail policies needed to help the city get back to basics and build for the future.
