Texas Marine Among Those Killed in Afghanistan

(WBAP/KLIF) — One of the 13 service members killed in Afghanistan is from Texas.  20 year old David Lee Espinoza died in the bombing at Kabul’s international airport, Thursday. The Marine was born in Laredo and grew up in Rio Bravo.

The Lyndon B. Johnson high school graduate was honored by the city of Laredo with a social media post that read “Your acts of courage and bravery will always be remembered in our community.”  Governor Greg Abbott ordered flags statewide to be flown at half-staff until sunset Monday in honor of Espinoza and other military members killed in the attack.

The death toll from the suicide bombing include 11 Marines, a Navy medic, and an Army soldier. At least 18 U.S. service members were injured in all. It was the deadliest day for American forces in Afghanistan since August 2011.
