J.J. Koch Sues Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins

(WBAP/KLIF) — A Dallas County Commissioner is suing Judge Clay Jenkins for banishing him from a meeting for not wearing a mask.  Jenkins ordered a bailiff to remove J.J. Koch from the county commissioner’s meeting for refusing to don a mask.

Koch appeared on WBAP’s “Chris Krok Show” Wednesday night to say that Jenkins is “power drunk” and that the mask requirement violates Governor Greg Abbott’s executive order.  The lawsuit claims that the Dallas County Judge misused his authority and should follow rules set by by Republican Governor Greg Abbott.

Jenkins believes his authority to require masks stems from a Texas Supreme Court ruling, allowing judges to implement COVID protection measures in court rooms in which they preside. However, Koch says Jenkins is not governed by the judicial branch as the commissioner’s meeting is an executive branch function, not judicial.
