AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF)- The Governor’s Commission for Women is dedicated to advancing economic opportunities for Texas women and making Texas the top state for women-owned businesses. Texas is already highly ranked as a state for women entrepreneurs to thrive, as it is home to five of the top 50 fastest growing women-owned/led companies in 2020 (Groupon, OnePoll) and was named the top women-owned business friendly state in 2020 by MaxFilings.

To further the advancement of successful women entrepreneurs and pave the way for new female business leaders, the Governor’s Commission for Women announces a new Webinar Series to empower female business leaders throughout the Lone Star State.

“The Governor’s Commission for Women is dedicated to providing resources and tools to help female business leaders succeed across the state,” said Karen  Harris, Chairman of the Governor’s Commission for Women. “We are thrilled to offer this new webinar series and pitch competition to further Texas’ status as the top place for women to both start and conduct business across the nation.”

In addition to the Webinar Series, female business leaders from each region of the state have the opportunity to enter a Pitch Competition to receive a $7,500 award from The Beacon State Fund. In partnership with The Beacon State Fund, the Governor’s Commission for Women will host a series of informative webinars for each region of Texas to share information about resources for women-owned small businesses and women entrepreneurs in Texas. The webinar series is an opportunity for attendees to learn from subject-matter experts and gain actionable advice about starting, growing and sustaining a business in the regions of Texas. The webinars will feature a variety of top leaders who will give key insights on an array of topics, including
marketing, social media, funding, ecommerce and more.

“We know that when women in business succeed, so do our families and communities,” said Nathali Parker, Vice Chairman of the Governor’s Commission for Women. “We encourage women of all industries and levels to tune in to the webinar series, as well as enter the pitch competition, and continue
pursuing their entrepreneurial dreams.”

To further female business leaders and entrepreneurship across Texas—an especially important initiative in the wake of the economic impact endured by small businesses during the pandemic—The Beacon State Fund and the Governor’s Commission for Women are hosting a pitch competition. One winner from each
region of Texas will receive a $7,500 award from The Beacon State Fund. Female Texan small business owners are invited to submit an application to the pitch competition explaining how their business created solutions, employed tactics and made adjustments to pivot in the uncertain times of the pandemic. Winners for each of the pitch competitions will be announced at the conclusion of the region’s corresponding webinar.
